Tasting Notes"One of the candidates for the Rhone Valley’s “wine of the vintage” is Chave’s 2002 Hermitage. A draconian selection has resulted in a deep ruby/purple-colored offering revealing sweet notes of melted licorice, briery berries, earth, and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant, and intense, this forward-styled Hermitage appears to be better than the 1992, 1993, and 1994, which are all fine wines that are holding up well. The 2002 should be at its peak between 2005-2015. What Chave accomplished in the extremely challenging 2002 vintage is unquestionably noteworthy. Not because of tiny yields and small grapes, but due to Chave’s decision to eliminate every grape except the very best, 2002 is a small crop. 91-94 points" Robert Parker

Tasting Notes"One of the most profound wines in the vintage is unquestionable the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Grenache de Pierre, which is 100% Grenache, from sandy soils in the la Crau lieu-dit, raised all in concrete tanks and bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby color is followed by an incredible bouquet of black cherries, black raspberries, licorice, dried herbs and garrigue. Deep, layered, gorgeously concentrated and ultra-fine, with sweet, ripe tannin and an incredible elegance, drink this sensational juice anytime over the coming 10-15 years. 100 points" Jeb Dunnock, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"Like the base cuvée, yet even richer, more powerful, and decadent, the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Quet is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre that was raised in very old barrels and oak tanks. Full-bodied, ripe, sexy and about as hedonistic as it gets in 2015, this beauty has tons of sweet tannin, a huge mid-palate, and big finish. It's an incredible wine that's guaranteed to raise your heart rate (it did for me anyway). 99 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"...Gorgeously spicy! Iridescent with spices. Massive, magnificent tannins that, for now, loom up over the wine like a roaring lion, but the palate has so much depth and breadth, so much triumphant, confident beauty, that I have no doubt all this needs is time for the elements to segue into each other. Dried, roses, black figs, pomegranate molasses, chocolate mint, sumac, baharat. This has complexity and challenge and powerful grace; tastes like Tschaïkowsky cross Nureyev. 2024-2034. 17.5 points." Tasting Notes“Assembled from 14 different plots (each vinified and aged separately for the first year), the 2019 Gigondas boasts lovely aromas of garrigue, spice, orange zest, liquorice, black cherries and raspberries....full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a long, softly dusty finish. It lacks the easy approachability of the 2018 but is more concentrated and should age particularly well. 93-95 points.” Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Mar 2021------“A full-bodied, harmonious blend, not quite as aggressively concentrated as his single-vineyard wines this year. Very tannic still, and well balanced despite its enormous size. Long finish, saturated with thick, fine tannins. The oak is quite prominent for now, but there's enough fruit to match it. Will be good when it's ready....95 points.” Matt Walls, Decanter.com, 7th December 2020

Tasting Notes"The 2020 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert boasts effusive aromas of cracked pepper, black olives, cherries and blueberries. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers some soft dusty tannins and decent length, but it's surprisingly lacking in concentration. 89-91 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com------“Yet another beautiful 2020, Thalabert is deep, dark and brooding in this vintage, and it has an almost Italianate liquorice and black-fruited theme underpinning its Syrah characters. This makes it an indulgent treat, and the palate is more velvety and forward than any young Thalabert I have tasted. In addition, it has the stuffing to age well, too. What more could you ask for? (Drink 2023 – 2033)“ 18+ points" Matthew Jukes------"Pure and lifted with the aroma of fresh, berry fruit. Less dense than imagined but pure, fresh and juicy with extremely fine-grained tannins. Refined and almost approachable but history says it will age. 16.5+ points" jancisrobinson.com (JL)

Tasting NotesVery pure notes of black cherry, blackcurrant and bramble fruits on the nose, with peppercorns and herbs on the nose and an impression of freshness, more elegant than in 2019. This is confirmed on the palate which is wonderfully fresh and elegant, despite the fruit intensity. Also some graphite-mineral notes on palate. Possesses a balance which is almost burgundy-like, excellent. RKL

Tasting Notes"Subdued but pure and profound. Tightly wound on the palate, the tannins powerful but refined, the fruit deep but underplayed. A saline edge that runs from start to finish adding length at the end. Needs to unfurl and expand but clearly has potential. 17.5 points" jancisrobinson.com (JH)------"After the past several vintages, the 2020 Hermitage La Chapelle will need to add significant richness and concentration if it is to compete at that level. That said, it is still an excellent wine, with classic aromas of crushed stone, cassis, espresso and black olives. It's full-bodied, fine and silky, giving an impression of great elegance on the lingering finish. 93-95 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com------“While there are faint roasted coffee bean notes here, which hint at the warm summer, and exotic rose and musk characters that only ever emerge in concentrated vintages, this is a masterclass in restraint and self-awareness. While this 2020 perhaps lacks the overall gravitas and high-rise tannins of the majestic 2019 vintage, this is a very seductive La Chapelle and one that will appeal to lovers of textural, velvety Syrahs. I am certain that everyone who drinks this wine will fall for its charms. (Drink 2025 – 2040)” 19+ points" Matthew Jukes

Tasting Notes"..Certified organic (Ecocert)...La Croix is Unang's Grenache-led blend. La Croix 2021 carries its oak imprint with more youthful awkwardness than La Source. The fruit is a little softer, more 'tendre', a little more impressionable, so its wearing the oak with a certain vulnerability. Lots of cracked-flint-stone minerality, winter-tree-bark bitterness, a sense of sulky skulking in dark corners. But the texture of the gritty tannins is stunning and the dark, dark fruit is full of promise. I would love to taste this wine in six years' time. 2026-2035. 17+ points". (TC) Jancisrobinson.com

Tasting Notes"...Certified organic (Ecocert). Syrah-led blend with Grenache and Cinsault. Aged in barrels.A little whiff of sweaty-saddle Syrah turns to beef stock and chocolate and then a mid-palate drenching of dark-red plums and damsons. Tannic in the grippy, wild-winter-walk, thick-skin way that sloe berries and elderberries are. A yin-yang wine that turns in your mouth like a light catcher in the breeze – changing from fruit to earth-and-spice to rugged-tugged coffee bitterness. Great tension and promise but put this away for another three years at least. 2026-2033. 16.5++ points". (TC) Jancisrobinson.com

Tasting NotesAged in older oak barrels. Ethereal, floral aromas on the nose and complex secondary development on both the nose and palate. Fresh acidity, black fruits, subtle woodsmoke aromas, spice and very elegant tannic structure. RKL------"The 2022 Cornas Granit 30 was made from fully destemmed grapes. It exhales prominent black fruit aromatics paired with pencil shavings, iodine and an underlying rusticity. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and concentrated, there's plenty of old-world savoriness in this classic 2022 Cornas. 2025-2032. 91-93 points." Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous.com------"Coming from vines lower on the slope, closer to the village, and all destemmed, the 2022 Cornas Granit 30 reveals a vivid purple/plum hue to go with a beautiful bouquet of ripe red, blue, and black fruits that turn more peppery and floral with air. It's clearly the most forward and accessible of the trio here, but it's still classic Cornas and has good acidity, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. 92-94 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting NotesAged for 16 months in 2-8 year old barrels. This has all the attributes of the 'Granit 30', but with a broader, fuller palate and more concentration. More of that delicate woodsmoke aroma on the nose. Nevertheless, the overall impression is of elegance and complexity. Heavenly! Not a word I usually use in tasting notes, but the complex floral aromas and meaty character are sublime. RKL------"Fermented with 30% whole clusters and brought up in used barrel, the 2022 Cornas Granit 60 is lifted and vibrant, with cassis and some candied blue fruits as well as fresh thyme, bouquet garni, pepper, and liquid violet-driven aromatics. Medium to full-bodied and nicely balanced, with the vintage's ripe yet still fresh style, it should benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and have 15 years of overall longevity. 92-94 points" Jebdunnuck.com------"The broad-shouldered 2022 Cornas Granit 60 offers pronounced intensify of spice-box, cured meat, blackberry jam, cedarwood and wef fea bag alongside crushed violets and iodine subtleties. Full-bodied, concentrated and framed by a massive tannic core, the 2022 concludes with persistence on the expansive finish. Very promising. 2027-2035. 93-95 points." Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous.com

Tasting NotesProduction of Geynale is just 4000-5000 bottles per year. The vineyard is named after ‘Genêt’, a small bush plant. This is a single parcel of old vines between 80-100 years old. The wine is aged for one year in oak barrels, 1 to 8 years old. Intense black fruit, smoke, delicate spice aromas and flavours and minerality. This is Syrah to equal some of the best cuvées from Côte Rôtie. RKL------"Lastly, and from the oldest vines in the Reynard and La Génale lieux-dits, the 2022 Cornas La Geynale is not destemmed and spent 16 months in used barrels. It’s on another level and brings a locked and loaded profile delivering tons of gorgeous, bloody blue fruits, roasted herbs, cured meats, and floral, peppery nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness as well as a stacked mid-palate and building tannins, this beauty will need 4-5 years of bottle age yet should evolve for two decades. Bravo. 94-96 points" Jebdunnuck.com------"The promising 2022 Cornas La Geynale was made with 100% whole-clusters during fermentation. A complex nose explodes with pungent raspberry jam, blackberry compote, roasted herbs, iodine, tobacco leaves, spice-box, candle wax and a splash of menthol. There's even a little gamey edge. This concentrated elixir hits the palate with mind-boggling energy and frames a massive tannic structure. I can t wait to taste the final result. 2028-2039. 94-96 points."
