"...an absolutely gorgeous wine! Buy a case for your cellar. You can thank me later. 97 points" Jebdunnuck.com, Feb ‘25
One of the best-selling wines of the 2022 en primeur campaign and one of the most rapidly improved in recent years, Château Laroque has just received a new 97-point score from Jeb Dunnuck, placing it at the top of the superb barrel tasting scores it received on release. The '22 is due to arrive later this spring and we have managed to add a few more cases to our allocation, so if you missed out the first time, you can redeem yourself now by securing some for your cellar. Offered at the release price of just £292 per dozen.
The 2022 offers the concentration and richness of fruit of the vintage, balanced by impressive precision, minerality, and freshness that comes from the limestone terroir at the estate, the same type as is found at a number of great grand cru classé names, including Château Canon. Dunnuck's tasting note could easily describe a wine like Canon, rather than one under £25 per bottle in bond:
"Gorgeous black raspberries, spring flowers, graphite, and truffly mineral and crushed stone-like nuances all shine in this stunningly complex, medium to full-bodied effort. With ripe, polished tannins, perfectly integrated acidity, and ultra-fine tannins, it's going to drink well for at least 30 years."
You can read more below about this impressive estate, with its fortified château and history dating back to the 12th century. Laroque is progressing rapidly from being 'one to watch' to an established star of the Right Bank, but prices have not yet caught up with the points, so we suggest following Jeb Dunnuck's advice, while stocks last.
Offered pre-landing, expected in the UK by June 2025.
