Château La Conseillante is an estate in the commune of Pomerol.
The name “La Conseillante” came from an 18th century Bordeaux wine merchant, Mme Catherine Conseillan, who purchased the estate and gave it the feminine version of her surname: La Conseillante. Extended the vineyards, taking the total to 12 hectares. The layout of the vineyard remains unchanged from that time. Another Bordeaux merchant family, Nicholas, bought the estate in 1871 and their descendants still own it today. Jean-Michel Laporte was the winemaker here until 2015, when he joined Talbot. He was replaced by Marielle Cazaux who has taken the wine in a more elegant, balanced direction which we love. Michel Rolland consults.
The 12.3 ha vineyard is planted to is planted to 80%Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
