2022 Château Cantemerle En Primeur

Released this morning, 2022 Château Cantemerle was one of our favourite wines under £300 per dozen when we tasted it from barrel last month.  You are unlikely to find a Cinquième Cru Classé with higher scores at a better price, in this, or many other vintages.

At just £266 per dozen and potentially scoring as high as 94 points, the 2022 revealed a bright, pure core of succulent fruit to us when we tasted it, but with the classic structure which this château is known for, and which can make it a little austere and unyielding in cooler years.

Two years ago, Laure Canu, formerly Deputy GM at Angélus, took over winemaking here, a sign of serious intent to make Cantemerle the best possible expression of itself.  It looks like her influence is part of a renaissance for this much-loved name and we recommend it to you this year.
