"...a sultry, sensual wine. Open, radiant and alluring, it captures all the natural radiance of the year in its exotic, flamboyant personality. 93 points." Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec '17
"...impressive...96 points." James Suckling, Feb '18
We have a simple proposition for you this morning, in the form of an ex-château parcel of a St-Emilion Grand Cru, described by Galloni as "sultry and sensual" and awarded 96 points by Suckling. With these scores and notes, 2015 Château La Marzelle is great value at £360 per dozen in bond, equivalent to just £30 per bottle.
Tasting the 2015 part-blind last week, we were really impressed by its depth on the palate, and by the fine tannic structure. It made complete sense when we learned that Marzelle is adjacent to Figeac, and on the same deep seam of gravel that runs beneath both Figeac and Cheval Blanc.
Technicalities of terroir aside, the effect of a Merlot-based claret from a great location and from an exuberant, plush vintage like 2015 is pretty compelling and no one could fail to enjoy drinking this, either right away or over the next decade.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to order.
Offered in bond, immediately available.
