2022 Sena (98 points) - coming soon

“Unremarked by some, Seña has totally changed style over the last decade and is now a more elegant, nuanced and complete wine."  Tim Atkin MW

Thursday 5th September will see the release of 2022 Seña, with 98 points from James Suckling.  The second wine of the estate, 2022 Rocas de Seña, is also due for release, with 95 points from Suckling.

Last year in London we met Pepa Chadwick, granddaughter of Eduardo Chadwick, to learn more about how Chadwick and Robert Mondavi founded Seña to establish top wines from Chile on an equal footing with the Bordeaux First Growths.

Seña's inaugural 1995 vintage gained international attention at a tasting in Berlin' in 2004 when Chadwick took a gamble and won, pitting his 2001 vintage blind, against LafiteMargauxLatourSassicaia and Tignanello. Since then, Seña has routinely achieved excellent scores, with the 2021 achieving a perfect 100 points from Parker.

2022 saw perfect growing conditions in Aconcagua, with moderate temperatures allowing for a steady ripening season for all varieties.  2022 Seña is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, 9% Carmenere and 6% Petit Verdot, grown on a 42-hectare vineyard on a hillside in the Aconcagua Valley, aged for 18 months in 85% French oak barrels and 15% foudres.  The Wine Advocate describes the '22 as "a gorgeous, energetic and exuberant example of poise and clarity that should be a pleasure to follow in the cellar".

Rocas de Seña is made to the same high level, but from a blend of 33% Malbec, 25% Syrah, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Grenache, 9% Petit Verdot and 7% Mourvedre Described by The Wine Advocate as "a beautiful and overperforming wine", this is a great way to experience what the very top wineries in Chile are capable of producing.

Availability of both wines is extremely limited, so please let us know straight away if you would like an allocation.

To be offered en primeur, available in spring 2025.
