Tasting Notes15 year-old Syrah vines, grown on granite slopes at a 30 degree gradient. This is the most overtly expressive of the Syrah variety, with lovely fresh acidity and a pleasing roundness in the mouth. RKL------"This has a nice sense of freshness; there's a touch of roundness on the palate, the fruit is certainly ripe and the acidity quite marked. The Cornas tannins are present, giving a cleansing sensation on the tongue. Medium length, compact, ripe and juicy, this will drink well young. Almost all destemmed, perhaps 5% whole bunches. Tasting NotesComplex floral aromas of violets, blackcurrant, blackberry and black olive. Sublime elegance and balance, there's no sensation of alcohol on the palate! RKL------"Dark and spicy, with a graphite, terroir edge. Round and supple on attack, with that stony terroir note again, the tannins firmly in place behind. Lots of drive and persistence. Could be tighter but the quality of the vineyard and terroir shows. 2028-2038. 17 points." (JL) Jancisrobinson.com------"Beautiful nose, very lifted, with violets, black olive, blackberry and cassis. Has a good sense of fullness and ripeness on the palate – it's full, powerful, fresh and driving with a good, robust tannic frame and a long finish. It's not as massive as some years, but very well balanced. A Cornas with lovely finesse of fruit and enjoyably robust tannins.
